Privacy policy

The short version
- Your screen time data (which apps you use, for how long, your limits and schedules) stays on your phone. We never receive it.
- Nest doesn't require an account, so the app doesn't collect your name, email, or password.
- We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, both from Google, to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes.
- We never sell your data, and Nest has no ads.
1. Who we are
Nest is developed by Albert Gil Peiro, Av. Josep Tarradellas 54, 08029 Barcelona, Spain, who is the data controller for the information described in this policy. You can contact us at any time at hello@nestbalance.app.
2. Data that stays on your device
To track screen time and enforce your limits, Nest processes the following information only on your phone. It is never sent to us or to anyone else:
- Which apps you open, when, and for how long
- Your daily screen time, unlocks, and quick checks
- Your limits, schedules (such as Sleep or School time), and settings
- Your daily Nest Score
This data is deleted when you uninstall Nest or clear its data in your phone's settings.
How Nest uses the Accessibility permission
Nest uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect which app is currently on screen. This is how it counts your screen time and blocks an app the moment you reach a limit or a schedule starts. Nest does not use this permission to read the content of your screen, your messages, what you type, or your passwords. The information it detects is processed on your device and is not shared.
3. Data we collect through Google Firebase
We use two Google Firebase services. The data they collect does not include the names of the apps you use or your screen time details.

Google acts as our data processor for these services. You can read more in Firebase's privacy information.
4. Our website
Our website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver the site securely. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't track you across websites.
5. Legal basis for processing
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR:
- Analytics: your consent. You can turn analytics on or off at any time in Settings › Privacy.
- Crash reports: our legitimate interest in keeping Nest working reliably.
6. Parental control mode and children
Nest is intended for adults. In parental control mode, a parent or guardian installs and sets up Nest on a child's device and is responsible for doing so. The child's screen time data stays on that device, just like in personal mode. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Sharing your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data, and we do not share it with advertisers. We share data only with the service providers described above: Google for Firebase, and Cloudflare for our website and email. We may also disclose information if required by law.
8. International transfers
Google may process Firebase data on servers outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. These transfers are protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. How long we keep data
- Firebase Analytics data is kept for 2 months, then deleted automatically.
- Firebase Crashlytics reports are kept for 90 days.
- Data stored on your device is kept until you uninstall Nest or clear its data.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@nestbalance.app. Because Nest has no accounts, we may ask for your app instance ID, which you can find in Settings › Privacy, so we can locate your data.
If you are in Spain, you can also file a complaint with the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos at aepd.es, or with the data protection authority in your country.
11. Security
Data sent to Firebase is encrypted in transit. Screen time data never leaves your device, so it is protected by your phone's own security.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
